Leeuwarden

Leeuwarden (Frisian: Ljouwert) is the capital and biggest city of the province of Friesland located at the junction of the Harlinger-Trek Canal and the Dokkumer Ee Canal, in the north of the Netherlands; it is also the birthplace of the female spy Mata Hari and the artist M.C. Escher. The city has a population of 96,000 (2016).[1]
