Joe Biden is a conspiracy theorist.[1] Below is a list of conspiracy theories promoted by Joe Biden and other prominent Democrats. Biden spread conspiracy theories in 2020 in an attempt to undermine the US presidential election that year.[2][3] Many of Biden's conspiracy theories are misleading or provably false and target political opponents. Some of Biden's theories are racist in nature.

Biden's conspiracy theories

Donald Trump and the 2020 election

  • Trump-Russia conspiracy theory, Biden is among numerous Democrat politicians to make the baseless claim that Russia illegally meddled in the 2016 US presidential election to favour the Trump campaign.
  • Tax cuts conspiracy theory, Biden baselessly claimed in April 2019 that President Trump's tax cuts benefited only the wealthy.[4]
  • Biden spread the false COVID-19 conspiracy theory in April 2020 that US President Donald Trump made no effort to get US medical experts into China in early 2020.[5]
  • Biden alleged that Trump was planning on delaying the 2020 US presidential election.[2]
  • Whitmer kidnapping conspiracy theory, in April 2022, Joe Biden pushed a false tinfoil hat conspiracy theory alleging that Donald Trump was responsible for a plot to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020.[6]
  • In October 2023, Joe Biden attacked political opponents with the conspiracy theory that the Trump administration was responsible for the rise in Iran's nuclear power. The UN suggests that this was in fact caused by Biden's policies.[7]

Other election conspiracies

  • Biden used election conspiracy theories of "voter suppression" to push electoral reform in January 2022, claiming that all future elections would be corrupt if his bill wasn't passed.

Congressional Republicans

  • Republican Tax plan conspiracy theory, Biden spread a false conspiracy theory in April 2022 the Republicans were planning on raising taxes on middle-income families.[8]
  • Biden-Medicare conspiracy theory, Biden claimed, without any evidence, in February 2023 that Republicans were planning on cutting social security and Medicare.[9]

Racist conspiracies

  • In August 2012, Biden claimed that Mitt Romney was going to put African Americans "back in chains".
  • Biden claimed, without evidence, in March 2021 that Indians were "taking over" the United States.[10]

Abortion

  • Alabama-IVF hoax, Biden falsely claimed in March 2024 that the US state of Alabama had halted access to IVF. Contrary to this hypocritical claim, the only blocks on IVF in Alabama came from Democrats.[11]
