MacGyver
MacGyver is an American television program starring Richard Dean Anderson which originally aired in the late 1980s on ABC. The show ran for seven seasons from 1985-1992 for a total of 139 episodes. In 2017 a reboot began airing on CBS.
The program revolves around MacGyver, a jack-of-all-trades best known for his ability to fashion complicated solutions to problems out of items he finds lying around. MacGyver refuses to fire a gun, but is never found without his Swiss Army knife.

Characters
MacGyver
Angus MacGyver is a jack-of-all-trades who is able to fashion useful devices out of various objects he finds. His feats of ingenuity range from sealing a chemical leak with chocolate bars ("Pilot") to stopping a bomb with a hockey ticket ("Phoenix Under Siege"). MacGyver refuses to fire a gun (although he will gladly use firearms as wrenches or to fashion small bombs), having been traumatized when a childhood friend was killed in a shooting accident ("Blood Brothers"). However, he is never without his trusty Swiss Army knife.
Peter Thornton
Peter Thornton, better known as Pete, is portrayed by Dana Elcar. He is MacGyver's superior at the Phoenix Foundation and one of his closest friends.
Jack Dalton
Jack Dalton, played by Bruce McGill, is a pilot with a tendency to attract trouble. His get-rich-quick schemes often put him and MacGyver in the middle of tricky situations.
Murdoc
Murdoc, portrayed by Michael Des Barres, is a professional assassin and MacGyver's nemesis. In each episode in which he appears, he attempts to kill his adversary, but is ultimately (apparently) killed himself. However, he always manages to survive and return for another attempt on MacGyver's life.
Revised series
A revised MacGyver with Lucas Daniel Till, a native Texan, in the title role has aired on the CBS Friday night schedule since the fall of 2016.
