Mortal Kombat is a series of highly violent fighting video games, it features graphic violence, unreal amounts of blood, satanism, suicide. A particular source of controversy is a feature called Fatality, where the winner of the combat ruthlessly executes his opponent in a gruesome fashion that vary with the performing character.

The early versions for the Nintendo home systems fixed some of the questionably issues in the game (most notably blood) but the game still contained plenty of adult-only material.

The gameplay consists of a fighting match between two characters, they can punch, kick, jump, duck, block and perform special moves depending on the characters. Two human players can fight each other.
