Neil Sedaka was born on March 13, 1939 in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, New York. As a youth he began playing piano and would study at the prestigious Juilliard School that prepared him for a lifetime of success as a musician, songwriter and singer.
While still in high school, Neil was one of the original members of a
group that would become the Tokens. At age 18 he gained fame as
the writer of “Stupid Cupid,” a hit for Connie Francis. Teaming up
with a neighbor, Howard Greenfield, they would form one of the
most successful songwriting teams of the rock era including Grammy *
award winner “Love Will Keep Us Together,” a chart topper for the
Captain and Tennille in 1975, “Solitaire,” for the Carpenters and
“Where The Boys Are” for Connie Francis, “
In late 1958 Neil Sedaka entered the best selling charts as a vocalist with “The Diary” and would follow with top ten hits, “Oh Carol,” “Stairway to Heaven,” “Calendar Girl,” “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,” “Next Door To An Angel,” and #1 with “Bad Blood,” *“Laughter In The Rain,” and a 1962 rock hit “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do,” that repeated in 1975 when Sedaka recorded it as a ballad.
His most recent “The Very Best of Neil Sedaka,” earned him another Platinum album by selling more than 500,000 units.
Appearing on stage at many of the worlds finest venue’s Neil Sedaka continues to draw sell out audiences in London, Las Vegas, Reno and Atlantic City.
Neil Sedaka has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and after having penned more than 1,000 songs is in the Song Writers Hall of Fame. In 2007 Neil Sedaka was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame.
