Obsessive thinking

Obsessive thinking occurs when there is domination of one's thoughts and/or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, person, etc.[1] While persistence is certainly an admirable trait, obsessive thinking often causes a person to have an unhealthy focus in their life.

Until recently, unhealthy obsessional thinking (obsessions without any attendant overt compulsive behaviour) was considered very difficult to treat. However, recent improvements in psychological therapy have improved the treatment outcomes for those who engage in obsessive ruminations.[2]
