Political correctness and comedy

There are many examples of the [[censorship]] of comedians. [[Mainstream conservative]] Steven Crowder faced severe [[YouTube]] censorship<ref>https://www.louderwithcrowder.com/498-were-demonetized-dave-rubin-the-hodgetwins-guest/</ref> for lampooning<ref>https://www.louderwithcrowder.com/vox-rebuttal-conservatives-control-the-media/</ref> [[homosexual]] Vox Media "journalist" Carlos Maza's unfounded claim that, as Crowder put it, "conservatives control the media", while a large number of other conservative YouTube accounts, also caught in the resulting firestorm, were also censored and, in many cases, demonetized and/or deplatformed altogether.<ref>https://www.vox.com/2019/5/24/18639159/fox-news-hack-gap-gatekeeping</ref> This was referred to as the "Adpocalypse," occurring at the behest of Maza in 2019 and subsequently resulting in a massive Internet backlash against Maza for both his actions and his refusal to take responsibility for them or to take the matter seriously, culminating in his being fired from Vox Media in August 2019. In a similar manner to the savaging of [[Todd Akin]] by [[Sean Hannity]], [[Rush Limbaugh]], and others at [[Fox News]], Blaire White and Bret Weinstein savaged and insulted Steven Crowder while claiming to defend him, but in reality making it perfectly clear that they were only defending his right to a platform.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIQzWbnsFEA</ref><ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGvIoO82fFo</ref>
Left-leaning<ref>https://louderwithcrowder.com/sjws-try-to-cancel-dave-chappelle/</ref><ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=303gDCcKxsM</ref> [[Dave Chappelle]] was attacked by the [[mainstream media]] for his [[Netflix]] special, "Sticks and Stones," which, as can be deciphered from the title, was intensely politically incorrect, poking fun at [[feminist]]s, the [[LGBT]], and [[social justice warriorswarrior]]s, among others.<ref>https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/59ngpb/you-can-definitely-skip-dave-chappelles-new-netflix-special-sticks-and-stones</ref>
Currently, it is politically incorrect to criticize [[Communist]] [[China]]. Notorious YouTuber [[PewDiePie]] has commented on this<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhWZavn2OvM</ref> (which got him banned in China).<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HehfOtRbUk</ref> So have [[libertarian]]s Trey Parker and Matt Stone, through their animated series [[South Park]]. They released an episode entitled, "Band in China," which criticized the Communist Chinese government and those who attempt to appease it, and which, ironically, caused the entire series to be banned in China<ref>https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2019/10/07/china-bans-south-park-over-episode-calling-out-countrys-censorship/</ref> (see [[Essay:South Park Is Back!]]).
