Pregnancy describes the condition of a mother carrying her unborn offspring. During sexual intercourse, a man's sperm fertilizes the woman's egg, fuses with it, and forms a new child. The woman becomes pregnant, and carries the baby in her womb. In humans, pregnancy lasts approximately nine months, after which the baby is born via the birth canal.
