Pro-life

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Boomeranggeneration (Talk | contribs) at 22:01, December 9, 2007. It may differ significantly from current revision.

Pro-life is the name given to people or organizations who defend the rights of the fetus, and who oppose abortion.

Due to rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court, the United States allows abortions during the first trimester of pregnancy. State law decides abortion laws during the second and third trimester.

In American politics, the Republican and Constitution Parties are often associated with the pro-life view. The Democratic and Libertarian Parties both support women's rights and oppose legal restrictions on the rights of women (libertarians themselves are divided on the issue).

The phrase "pro-life," especially in the Catholic Church, may also include similar issues, such as the death penalty and euthanasia.
