Prophet

A prophet is one who speaks for God through divine revelation. Prophets in the Bible usually predict future events and the words of a prophet must always come to pass. If they do not, then he is a false prophet and must be put to death. A large portion of the Bible deals with prophets and prophecy.

Mormon Beliefs

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) believe that there are modern day prophets. Mormons sustain the President of the Church as prophet, seer, and revelator. [1]

There have been fifteen prophets of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The first prophet was Joseph Smith. The current prophet is Gordon B. Hinckley.
