Georgia is a country in the Caucasus just north of eastern Turkey. It was formerly in the Soviet Union until given independence in 1991. The Georgian soccer team are no longer the current unofficial world champions. [1] Georgia's capital is Tbilisi. The current President of Georgia is the pro-Western Mikhail Shikashvili.

In antiquity, the area now known as Georgia were one of the earliest countries to embrace Christianity, converting in 319 A.D.
