Robert John Strutt, 4th Baron Rayleigh was a British peer and the son of the famous physicist John William Strutt, 3rd Baron Rayleigh. Although he inherited his father's title, in science the name Lord Rayleigh is taken to apply only to the 3rd Baron.

The rayleigh, a unit of luminous flux used to describe air glow, and the rayl, a unit of acoustic impedance, are both named after him.
