Saxony-Anhalt (German: Sachsen-Anhalt) is a Land (State) of the Federal Republic of Germany, situated in the middle of the country. Its capital is Magdeburg. The state was created in the course of the reunification of Germany in 1990 from three districts of the former German Democratic Republic.
