Spiderman is a Marvel comics superhero created by Stan Lee - he is the super-hero alter-ego of Peter Parker. The franchise has spawned three live-action movies - all directed by Sam Raimi starring Tobey Maguire as the eponymous character. A Broadway musical theater production with music by U2 is in the works, but has suffered many setbacks related to actor injuries and going over-budget. A fourth film is set to reboot the series in 2012 - staring Andrew Garfield and directed by Marc Webb.
