That's very true. Circumcision is actually really rare in Europe. I also have a problem with the statistic of Americans who are circumcised - surely that should be referenced? Surely it's not that high? Blackjuice 13:58, 29 May 2007 (EDT)

Why say "male reproductive organ"?

Also, there are other male reproductive organs. However, I think this article gets the point across. Anyone who needs more detail can get it (detail) from their parents or in medical/nursing school. BHarlan 13:29, 23 October 2008 (EDT)

If it were obscene, it would be illegal. I don't think anyone is claiming that it is obscene, but it is certainly not necessary. Who really needs this information to be a productive, helpful, or faithful person? Would you honestly call this article family friendly? That's not a rhetorical question? I really am asking? Comments about my family are uncalled for.

Furthermore, there is a big difference between male children knowing the names of prominent parts and all children knowing the details of the bits and pieces of those parts, and how some differ from others, and the surgeries that might be performed on them. My kids know what a mouth is, but they don't know about cleft-palate surgery. I would be happy to tell them, but not if it would encourage them to focus on sexual activity before marriage. My kids know what teeth are, but if I thought telling them about root canals would encourage them to perform them before becoming a dentist, I would simply tell them that root canals are a subject for patients and dentists.

Of course, root canals aren't tempting, so I'd be happy to tell them some details, as long as it didn't frighten them. Temptation and family friendliness are different, though, between teeth and genitals. Only liberals think genitals are "just another body part".

Finally, this disagreement is a matter of degree. We both agree, I hope, that it wouldn't be useful to add a diagram of circumcision to this article. Why, then, make this any more graphic than necessary? BHarlan 15:11, 23 October 2008 (EDT)

Well, God is THE all-powerful, supreme creator being, and your statement above implied that you're smarter than Him. That's something you need to discuss with God alone, and I'm sure you and Him would have an interesting conversation on the relative nature of I.Q. levels. But Creationists can look at life and say it is well-designed and necessitates a designers, but those that oppose this view aren't allowed to point out the seeming lack of design - or, more so, the contradictory nature of the design?
