I added geometric measure theory, which is another valid discipline in geometry which is very different from the other branches listed. Additionally, I changed the remark at the beginning about geometry being concerned with points, lines, surfaces, etc., as this is too narrow a description of the field. Finally, the primary branches of pure mathematics are algebra, analysis, and geometry-not algebra and geometry. And it's only fair to include logic and number theory as well, which are enormous subjects with a flavor all their own. In any event, algebra is certainly not the study of numbers--this is number theory. --Mathoreilly 15:28, 30 June 2008 (EDT)

And while you're at it, please provide references for these definitions. Most students are instructed not to blindly believe things they read on the internet, even here, and wisely so. A reference to a reputable math book or web site will give the student confidence that the information is correct, and may help him find further information is he is so inclined. --Hsmom 09:34, 29 August 2008 (EDT)

Mom, the best website is Wolfram MathWorld. I've never found an error in it.
