Nine Hells?

The concept that there are nine separate Hells is in Dante's Inferno and might be with a reference on that basis, but it's not a part of the standard Christian theology. The issue comes up again in the article on Demons. A quick internet search suggests that the concept has been popularized by dungeons and dragons. --JesusSaves 23:41, 11 March 2007 (EDT)

Does Dante really use the term Nine Hells in the Divine Comedy? There is only one Hell in the Divine Comedy, with nine circles, not nine separate hells. --OscarJ 10:13, 24 June 2009 (EDT)
