Television is a system of transmitting video and accompanying sound over radio waves.

The first practical television set was patented [1] by Charles Francis Jenkins in the United States. He built on the experimental work of earlier scientists such as John Logie Baird.

The first television broadcasting station in the US was W3XK, founded by his Jenkins Television Corporation in 1928.
