The '''Viet Minh''' (from ''Việt Nam Ðộc Lập Ðồng Minh Hội'', "League for the Independence of Vietnam") was a [[communist]]-led force in [[Vietnam]], fighting against both [[French]] colonial occupation and occupation by the [[Japanese]] during the [[Second World War]]. Its leader was [[Ho Chi Minh]]. The group became the government of [[North Vietnam]] in 1954.
