Nomination by endorsement is the approach taken by Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush to try to win the Democratic and Republican nominations for President.

Both lack the support of the grassroots, and have relatively little popular support.

Jeb Bush expects to win the nomination by gaining endorsements from other candidates (Christie, Walker, Rubio, Kasich, Graham, etc.), prior Republican nominees for president (Mitt Romney and John McCain), and Republican governors in key states (South Carolina, Texas and Florida). On Veterans Day 2015, prior GOP nominee Bob Dole endorsed Jeb Bush.

Hillary Clinton obtained the endorsement by the most powerful liberal interest group, the NEA.
