Winn Dixie is a fortune 500 supermarket chain in the southeastern United States, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. The chain operates stores in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, and it previously operated stores in North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, and the Bahamas. The company traces back to 1925 when William Davis purchased Rockmoor Grocery, and later renamed it "Table Supply." Table Supply Stores were opened across the state of Florida, and when William Davis left this earth in 1934, he left the company to his four brothers, who later purchased 51% of the Winn-Lovett company, which later became Winn Dixie. The company's current CEO is Peter Lynch. The company announced a merger with BI-LO in December 2011. Both companies are anticipated to continue operating under their respective names.[1]
