King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein the Hashemite "الملك عبدالله الثاني ابن الحسين", the king of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He succeeded his father King Hussein, after his death in 1999. Like his father, he is a popular in Jordan and an ally of the United States and Britain.

Education and career

King Abdullah studied in the United States in his early years, and later on attended Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and graduated to serve in the Jordanian military. He rose to become Major General in the army, and was responsible for creating SOCCOM (Special Operations Command) for the Jordanian special forces.

King Abdullah became king after his father passed away in February 1999. King Hussein decided to make him crown prince several weeks before he passed. King Abdullah carried on a pro economic/democracy reform policy and military modernization policy. He spoke before Congress on march of 2007, and spoke about the importance of peace in the Middle East.
