Abortion shield states

Abortion shield states are so pro-abortion that they violate the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the United States Constitution by shielding abortionists in their states against penalties assessed in other states, typically for practicing without a medical license in the other states.
As of July 2025, the abortion shield states and territories are:
- California
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Hawaii
- Illinois
- Maine
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- Minnesota
- Nevada
- New Jersey
- New Mexico
- New York
- Oregon
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Washington
- Washington, D.C.
Seven of these states are particularly defiant of pro-life laws in other states: California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Washington. These states refuse to enforce judgments against physicians who violate laws in pro-life states against providing abortion pills to residents while located within the pro-life states.
