Acre-foot
From Conservapedia
An acre-foot is the volume of water required to cover 1 acre of land to a depth of 1 foot. An acre-foot is equal to 325,851 gallons or 1,233 cubic meters.
As water becomes increasingly scarce, the standard measurement for water usage by a group of people is the acre-foot.
One acre-foot can fulfill the annual water needs of one to two households,[1] not including the water they indirectly use through their food or agricultural requirements or their leisure such as playing golf.
