African violet

African violets, or Saintpaulia, are a genus of flowering plants that are popular as houseplants. The growth habit is typically a rosette of fleshy, hairy leaves; depending on the variety and the age of the plant, the rosette is between a few inches and a foot across. The flowers grow in loose clusters on stalks rising above the leaves.
