Amazon effect
From Conservapedia
The Amazon effect is the impact that the online retailer Amazon.com has on an industry when Amazon enters the market.
For example, on June 16, 2017, the announcement of Amazon's offer to purchase the grocery chain Whole Foods caused a sharp, immediate drop in the stock value of other grocery chains, including even the mammoth Walmart (which itself has an impact on retail whenever it builds a new store or enters a market).
