Andrey Nikolaevich Kolmogorov (1903 - 1987) was a Russian mathematician, who made countless important contributions to various fields of mathematics. His Foundations of Probability Theory (first published 1926 in German as Grundlagen der Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie) are the groundwork of modern probability theory, using the concept of measurable spaces.
