Antrim County, Michigan is a county located in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the county's population was 23,431. The county seat is Bellaire, and the region is known for its picturesque landscapes, numerous inland lakes, and its location in Michigan's popular Traverse City metropolitan area.

History
Antrim County was originally named "Meegisee County," after the Ojibwa word for "eagle." In 1843, it was renamed "Antrim" after County Antrim in Northern Ireland. The area was historically inhabited by the Anishinaabe people before European settlers arrived in the early 19th century. Logging and agriculture were the primary industries during the county's early development.
The region later became a popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty, including the Chain of Lakes waterway, which connects several of the county’s inland lakes.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, Antrim County has a total area of 602 square miles, of which 476 square miles is land and 126 square miles (21%) is water. The county is located in the northwestern part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula and is bordered by Grand Traverse Bay to the west.
