The asterion is the point on the human skull where the parietal, occipital, and mastoid temporal bones meet; a three-way joint of the skull. It is the meeting point of the petro-occipital, lambdoid, and parietomastoid sutures. It is situated half an inch above the center of a line drawn between the inion and the tragus of the ear.
