BCE

BCE is the abbreviated form of the term "Before Common Era", a mathematical, but not philosophical equivalent of BC, or "Before Christ". Some historians have argued that the use of BC implies that all history is relative to Christ, whereas the use of BCE denies that Christ is the basis of our calendar system.
