Ballina, Ireland

Ballina (Irish: Béal an Átha) is the largest town of County Mayo, Ireland, with a population (2002) of 9,478. The town was established in 1729, on the River Moy just south of the river's entrance into Killala Bay.

It is connected to Dublin by railway.

The former Irish President Mary Robinson was born in Ballina in 1944.
