The Barrels Per Day Equivalent (or BPD-Equivalent) is a unit of measure that tells how much oil would have to be burned to produce the same amount of energy. A barrel describes large drum with a volume of 158,987,294,928 ml. Liberals often want to pass federal legislation to lower the BPD-equivalent used in states, an example of an encroaching big government.[1][2]
An example of usage: California's hydroelectric generation in 1983 was 58,000 barrels per day equivalent.[3]
