Beatrice (pronounced bee-AT-riss) is a town in the southeastern portion of Nebraska.

It was the site of what many would consider a miracle: at 7:25 pm on March 1, 1950, the East Side Baptist church exploded. The explosion should have injured or killed members of the church choir (as it took place five minutes after choir practice was to begin), but miraculously no one was injured because all fifteen members of the choir were, for one reason or another, late. The liberal website Snopes.com confirmed this as a true event.[1] This story was covered in an episode of the television show Unsolved Mysteries and was featured in a Karen Kingsbury book on Christmas miracles (even though the event took place in late winter).
