Beep Beep (song)

Beep Beep is a novelty song by The Playmates, released in 1958. It would reach #4 on the pop charts, their highest-charting song.

The song tells of a road race between two mismatched vehicles, a Cadillac (portrayed as a large "muscle car") and a "little Nash Rambler". The tempo of the song increases with each verse.

The driver of the Rambler attempts to attract the attention of the Cadillac driver by honking his horn throughout the song. The Cadillac driver takes his intentions to mean he wants to race him, and despite all efforts the Cadillac cannot outrun the Rambler. Eventually, the humorous part of the song is revealed in the final lyrics: the Rambler driver is trying to ask the Cadillac driver "how do I get my car out of second gear?"
