Ben Houchen

Ben Houchen (b. 1986) is a British politician. A member of the Conservative Party, he is the current mayor of the Tees Valley combined authority.
History
Houchen won the 2017 Tees Valley mayoral election as the Conservative candidate in May that year with 51% of the vote in the ordinarily Labour-voting region.
In 2019, Ben Houchen invited US President Donald Trump to the Tees Valley area. Trump didn't attend but American ambassador Woody Johnson visited the region in his stead.[1]
Houchen won re-election as mayor in 2021 in a what was described as a "landslide", with 73% of the vote.[2]
