William Martin "Billy" Joel is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist; he was born in the Bronx, New York in 1949.[1] His music takes from aspects of rock & roll, pop, and jazz as well as many bands of the 1950s.

He began his solo record career in 1971 with the album Cold Spring Harbor, and his 1973 album (and song) Piano Man was the first to achieve major success. He continued to have Top 10 hits and the 80s and 90s, and according to Columbia, he has sold over 100 million records worldwide.[2] Most recently, he released a single titled All My Life in 2007.

One of Billy Joel's best loved songs is "Just the Way You Are," which he also parodied in a Sesame Street serenade to Oscar the Grouch. [1]
