Blaydon-on-Tyne is a town in traditional County Durham, north-eastern England. It is formed by the contiguous area of the settlements Blaydon and Winlaton, and has a population of around 15,000. It lies around 5 miles south-west of central Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland.
Blaydon-on-Tyne has a resident population of around 15,000. Winlaton was an early centre for the local steel industry, with its forge (built 1690s) being one of the oldest in existence. Blaydon is known for the popular folk song "Blaydon Races". The Battle of Stella Ford was fought in Blaydon in 1640 as part of the Bishops' Wars.

The part of County Durham in which Blaydon is situated is administered by Gateshead Council.
