The boomerang is a curved throwing club of Australian Aboriginal origin. The most common variety travels in an elliptical path after being thrown and returns to its point of origin if thrown correctly.

The boomerang was originally created by the Aborigines in a non-returning form, for hunting. Some boomerangs were used as close-range weapons without being thrown. Today, the boomerang is used for recreation.
