Brandon Meriweather is a National Football League safety for the New England Patriots. He was born on January 14, 1984 and is 5-11 (tall) and weighs 192 pounds.

College career

Meriweather attended and played at safety and cornerback for the University of Miami Hurricanes from 2002 through 2006. Know as highly energetic, versatile, and an extremely hard hitter, Meriweather played in a total of 52 games (31 starts) at Miami,and made 293 total tackles (Miami record for most by a defensive back), 182 of those tackles being solo, 2½ sacks, 4 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 25 batted down passes and seven interceptions. In 2006 he was named a team captain.

He was involved in some controversy in 2006 when he was part of a brawl in a game vs Florida International.[1] He was suspend for one game due to his part in the fight.

NFL career

On April 28, 2007, Meriweather was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round (24 overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.[2]
