Cashback is a film about a British art student, morose with lingering regret over having broken up with his girlfriend. "To think of her with someone else was like having all the oxygen sucked from the room."

Afflicted with insomnia, he casts about for something to fill his extra 8 hours: catch up on his reading, work nights in a supermarket. After 2 weeks without sleep, he begins to imagine that time is standing still.
