Confidence is "trust or belief in the ability or worth of a person, thing, or situation, often based on past experiences and evidence. Self-confidence, in contrast, is the internal, deep-seated belief in one's own overall abilities, judgment, and inherent capacity to succeed, especially in new or unproven situations where external evidence is lacking."[1]
