Spam in internet culture, is a repetition of off topic and irrelevant text and links.[1][2]

Spam postings may include misleading page titles or text in article mainspace and talk page discussions disguised as educational information, sometimes accompanied by a link to a controversial or clickbait website which is selling something; it is often used as an attempt at free advertising.

In the United States, for example, spammers are supposed to adhere to restrictions under the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003[3] as well as any relevant state laws.[4]

On discussion pages, be polite, answer questions civilly, and do not spam with excessive, off topic bytes and links.
