DeSantis sham pro-life bill
DeSantis sham pro-life bill is his misnamed 15-week ban on abortion in Florida that has two massive loopholes that will continue to allow late-term abortions there. Pro-lifers in Florida continue to rally for a Heartbeat Bill that has passed in 14 other states, but which DeSantis apparently blocks.
First is this loophole in Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's bill:
| “ | It does allow an abortion if it would save the life of a pregnant person or prevent serious injury to them.[1] | ” |
Abortionists commonly exaggerate potential harm to a pregnant woman from her pregnancy, in order to terminate it. In fact, pregnancy is one of the healthiest things a woman can do for her long-term well-being.
And there is even a second loophole in DeSantis's bill:
| “ | The law also includes exceptions for fetal abnormalities that are discovered after 15 weeks. In such cases, two doctors must sign off saying the baby will die shortly after birth before an abortion can happen.[1] | ” |
That allows merely two abortionists to give sham opinions to promote their business.
It's common for the abortion side to cause delay in real pro-life legislation by pretending that a sham bill is effective, and then litigate that sham bill for years. That gives RINOs cover not to pass a real pro-life bill.
