Deforestation is the net removal of trees from forested land. Deforestation in large amounts can often be detrimental to an environment, increasing the chance of erosion and landslides as well as destroying natural habitat that many species rely on for survival.

Worldwide deforestation is considered a major contributor to global warming by scientists.,[1][2]
