Denbighshire
Denbighshire (Welsh: Sir Ddinbych) is a county in north Wales. To the north, it has a coastline on the Irish Sea, to the east, it borders Flintshire, with the borders with the two detached parts of that county being punctuated by a border with the English county Cheshire, with the south-eastern part of the county being bordered by Shropshire. To the south, the county is bound by Montgomeryshire and Merionethshire, being bound to the west by Caernarfonshire, with the River Conwy forming part of the border with that county.
The county has a population of around 280,000, with an area of of 668 square miles.
The county Denbighshire lends its name to Denbighshire County Council, which was established in 1996; although that council area is legally distinct from the county proper, with the two also having different geographical boundaries.
