The United States Secretary of Energy is the person in charge of the Department of Energy. The current Secretary of Energy, as of 2021, is the Democrat former Governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm, appointee of U.S. President Joe Biden.

In the first part of the Donald Trump administration, Rick Perry, the former Republican Governor of Texas, served in the position.
