Ernest Lee Fletcher, known as Ernie Fletcher (born November 12, 1952), is the Republican former Governor of Kentucky. He served a single term from 2003 to 2007. Previously, he was a United States Representative.

Fletcher was a pilot in the United States Air Force, and has been a Baptist minister. He has a degree in Engineering, and is also a medical doctor, and has practiced as a family physician for twelve years. His position as an upstanding citizen of the United States has led to his political progression through state representative, to the United States House of Representatives, and on to his former position as governor of Kentucky. He unsuccessfully sought re-election in 2007 following corruption charges.[1]

He is married with two children and four grandchildren.[1]

On June 9, 2004, Fletcher's airplane was nearly shot down violating airspace in Washington, D.C., en route to the funeral of Ronald Reagan.[2]
