Estrangement is the alienation (loss) of affection by someone for someone else, as in the case of husband and wife, or parents and children.

In legal terms it can serve as just cause for certain actions, such as divorce, emancipation of a minor, etc.

In spiritual terms, estrangement is the alienation of someone from God, due to sin.
