Gabriel Marcel (1889–1973) was a French philosopher and playwright. Although he is often seen as an existentialist, he preferred to call his philosophy "neo-Socrateanism" to distinguish it from the atheistic existentialism of Jean-Paul Sartre. His works include "The Mystery of Being" (1951) and "Being and Having" (1965).
