Gideon's Trumpet

Gideon's Trumpet is a 1964 non-fiction book by Anthony Lewis describing a variety of aspects of the Supreme Court of the United States through the context of the court case Gideon v. Wainwright. Lewis details the history of the court, important previous decisions that would have an effect on the case, the court's policies and customs (such as the rule of four) and the background of Clarence Earl Gideon as well as the case itself. The book won an Edgars Award for Best Fact Crime.[1]
In 1980, Robert E. Collins directed an Emmy-nominated movie based on the book.[2]
